AEB: Russian car, LCV sales fall 2.2% to 119,073 units in Feb
MOSCOW, Mar 5 (PRIME) -- Russia’s sales of new cars and light commercial vehicles (LCVs) fell 2.2% on the year to 119,073 vehicles in February, the Association of European Businesses (AEB) said on Thursday.
In January–February, sales of cars and LCVs fell 0.5% to 218,442 units.
“February market sales show a 2% decline compared to the same month one year ago, in line with market expectations. Considering however that a number of brands have stopped sharing their sales data on a monthly basis (anywhere in the world including for Russia), the whole market picture is not quite complete at this point,” AEB said quoting Joerg Schreiber, chairman of the AEB Automobile Manufacturers Committee.
“Next month the AEB will publish a quarterly sales report which is expected to reflect cumulative sales results of all brands represented in Russia during the first 3 months of 2020.”
Sales of Russia’s largest carmaker AvtoVAZ fell 7% on the year to 25,002 cars in February and decreased 4% to 46,792 units in January–February.
